The Little Red Hen finds a grain of wheat and decides to plant it. She asks her friends—a cat, a dog, and a mouse—to help with each step, from planting to harvesting to baking bread, but they all refuse. When the bread is finally baked, smelling delicious, her friends eagerly offer to help eat it, but the Little Red Hen decides to enjoy the fruits of her own labor with her chicks.
