This is the story of a Comanche girl named She-Who-Is-Alone, whose people are suffering from a terrible drought and famine. The tribe's shaman says the Great Spirits are angry and a great sacrifice is needed to bring back the rain. She-Who-Is-Alone, who has already lost her family, makes the most personal and painful sacrifice of all—her most valued possession, a warrior doll made from the feathers of a blue jay. Her selfless act not only brings the life-giving rain but also transforms the land with a beautiful new flower, the bluebonnet.
