Will's older brother Shawn has just been shot and killed. Following the neighborhood's unwritten 'rules' for revenge, fifteen-year-old Will takes his brother's gun, gets on the elevator of his apartment building, and rides down to the lobby—planning to kill the person he believes is responsible. But during the elevator's sixty-second descent, Will is visited by ghosts from his past, each one connected to the cycle of violence, forcing him to reconsider his mission before the doors open.
